Meet Our Founder

Margot Heard, the founder of Lazy A Ranch, has a deep-rooted passion for ranching and cattle work. Growing up under the guidance of her father, Tom Terry, a pioneering Texas farmer and cattleman, Margot developed a strong appreciation for the land and the animals that inhabit it. After a successful career in education as the head of Saint Nicholas School in Houston, she and her husband Bill decided to return to their roots in rural Texas. In 2008, they purchased the property and established a certified grass-fed beef operation. Margot’s commitment to holistic management principles ensures that animal welfare and pasture health are at the forefront of their practices, providing high-quality grass-fed beef for families and local communities.
