Certified Grassfed Ranch
Lazy A Ranch is a certified grassfed ranch, meaning that our practices are verified and transparent. We prioritize the health of our animals and the land they graze on. Families can trust that our beef is produced with care, ensuring that every bite is packed with flavor and nutrition.
Animal Welfare Beef
Animal welfare is at the heart of our operation. We believe that happy, healthy cattle produce the best beef. Our pasture-raised approach allows our animals to roam freely, promoting their well-being and resulting in high-quality meat for your family’s table.
Pasture Raised Beef
Our pasture-raised beef is a healthier alternative to conventionally raised meat. By allowing our cattle to graze on natural grasses, we enhance the flavor and nutritional profile of our beef. Families in Wharton County can enjoy the benefits of pasture-raised beef, knowing it is a wholesome choice for their meals.
No Grain Finished Beef
We take pride in offering no grain finished beef, which means our cattle are never fed grains. This practice not only aligns with our commitment to natural farming but also results in beef that is leaner and more flavorful. Families can savor the taste of beef that is raised the way nature intended.
Alfalfa Finished Beef
Our alfalfa finished beef is a unique offering that enhances the quality of our meat. Alfalfa is a nutrient-rich forage that contributes to the flavor and tenderness of the beef. Families can enjoy a premium product that is both delicious and nutritious, perfect for any meal.

The Heart Behind Lazy A Ranch
Lazy A Ranch was founded by Margot Heard and her husband Bill in Bellville, Texas, after they purchased the property in 2008. Margot grew up surrounded by ranching and cattle work, influenced by her father, Tom Terry, a pioneering Texas farmer and cattleman. After a successful career in education as the head of Saint Nicholas School in Houston, Margot and Bill decided to return to their roots. They began raising Akaushi and British White cattle under Holistic Management principles, focusing on animal welfare, pasture health, and providing high-quality grass-fed beef for families and local communities. Margot’s passion for sustainable farming and commitment to quality shines through in every aspect of Lazy A Ranch.
