Meet Our Founder
Margot Heard founded Lazy A Ranch in Bellville, Texas, with her husband Bill after purchasing the property in 2008. Margot grew up around ranching and cattle work, influenced by her father, Tom Terry, a pioneering Texas farmer and cattleman. After a successful career in education as head of Saint Nicholas School in Houston, Margot and Bill decided to return to their roots in rural Texas. They began raising Akaushi and British White cattle under Holistic Management principles, focusing on animal welfare, pasture health, and high-quality grass-fed beef for families and local communities. Margot’s passion for ranching and commitment to ethical practices drive the mission of Lazy A Ranch.
